Back in 1968, I moved to the Oregon Coast and went to work for a 64 year old French house painter, Who had to be dragged off his job because he still was working at 84. Not long after my apprenticeship training. The first thing he told me to do was purchase a new set of whites. We all used bib whites in those days mostly. I hated them after leaning over to stir the paint, All what I had in the top pocket below my adams apple fell into the bucket including my cigarettes. I gave up smoking about 40 yrs. ago. He told me that with clean, cleaner whites showed the home owners that you were a painter. They then had confidence in you. He could paint all month and his clothes kept pretty clean. Mine were done at the end of the day. I purchased several overalls. I soon got into drywall and that was cleaner. The large blobs just peeled off after a few days. Exterior painting esp. staining was a different animal for sure. Hahahaha
